Privacy Policy

Effective June 1, 2026

This privacy policy describes how Shafer Law, P.A. (“the Firm,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information through this payment portal at payments.lawyerupjax.com (the “Service”). This Service is used by existing clients of the Firm to view and pay invoices for legal services.

Information we collect

We collect only the information necessary to bill clients and process payments:

How we use information

SMS Communications and Mobile Information

With the client's written consent on a signed engagement agreement, Shafer Law, P.A. may send transactional SMS text messages to a client's mobile telephone number. These messages relate to billing, invoices, and payment reminders. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on account activity. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to opt out at any time.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors (e.g., text message platforms) supporting our services is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of legal representation. Clients may decline SMS communication and still be represented by the Firm without any change to the attorney-client relationship.

How we share information

We share information only with service providers who help us operate the Service, and only as needed for that purpose:

We do not sell, rent, or trade client information. We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or to enforce our rights and the rights of our clients.

How long we keep information

Billing records are retained for a minimum of five years after the last invoice on a client account, consistent with Florida Bar recordkeeping requirements. Payment processor records are retained per Stripe's policies. Server logs are retained for 90 days.

Your choices

Children

This Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the Effective date at the top of this page.
